Castel Stenico

Perched on the hill overlooking the town of Stenico, the castle still retains its imposing and massive appearance as a fortified building.

Inside, the elegance of the spaces and the refinement of frescoes and sculptures reveal its purpose as the summer residence of the Prince-Bishop of Trento.

An exhibition path dedicated to the applied arts unfolds in the rooms.

EXPLORE THE CASTLE

OLD PALACE AND NEW PALACE

In continuity with Casa Murata, the New Palace is characterized by elegant mullioned windows and pointed arch triple windows and was built at the beginning of the 13th century. In front of it, the Old Palace, also of medieval origin.

OLD HOUSE AND HINDERBACH PALACE

The castle of Stenico consists of buildings constructed in different eras, expanded and renovated over time.

BOZONE TOWER

A prison – dark and without openings – is located in the Tower, also known as the ‘Tower of Hunger,’ accessible through a trapdoor in the ceiling. Another prison is situated nearby, as well as a cistern for collecting rainwater.

CHAPEL OF SAINT MARTIN

The castle chapel dedicated to Saint Martin is located on the ground floor of the medieval Palazzo di Niccolò. The space, a single nave, intimate and sober, is an enlargement of an original place of worship dating back to the early Middle Ages.
