STENICO CASTLE COLLECTIONS
The nature of the collections exhibited at Stenico Castle primarily concerns objects related to applied art. The fortress houses paintings and objects of applied arts from provincial collections, providing significant evidence of the creativity and skill of artists and craftsmen who worked in the Trentino region over the centuries.
Paintings on display depict landscapes, sacred scenes, and portraits of prominent figures in Trentino’s history, executed by Giovan Battista Lampi, a renowned portraitist in the most important European courts of the second half of the 18th century. There is a significant collection of bells dating from the Three to Seventeenth century, wrought iron and painted and carved wooden artifacts, including elegant bridal chests and finely crafted furniture, copper utensils, potbelly stoves, keys and locks, weapons, and clocks. Also exhibited in the castle is the altarpiece with shutters by Jacopo Ligozzi from 1567 for the parish church of Vigo Lomaso, deposited here for conservation and protection reasons.
