Practical info
Buonconsiglio Castle is located at 5, Via Bernardo Cles – Trento – Italy.
The Castle does not have its own parking facilities, but paid parking is available nearby at:
- Buonconsiglio multi-storey car park;
- Piazza Fiera underground car park;
- Centro Europa underground car park, two levels down.
HOW TO GET TO TRENTO
By car
The Brenner motorway (A22, exit Trento Nord or Trento Sud), state road 12 of Abetone and Brenner (SS12) from Verona or Bolzano, state road 47 of Valsugana (SS47 Valsugana Superstrada) from Venice, and state road 45bis Gardesana Occidentale (SS45bis) for those coming from Brescia and Lake Garda.
By train
The Brenner line and the Valsugana line from Venice. The train station is located near the historic centre of Trento (Piazza Duomo is just a short walk away). At the station, you can also find the terminus for the Trento-Malè-Mezzana local train line coming from Val di Sole and the branch of the Valsugana line which leads to Bassano del Grappa and Venice.
By plane
The nearest airports are: Verona (90 km.), Brescia (165 km.), Venice (155 km.), Treviso (130 km.), Milano (250 km.), Bergamo (200 km.) and Bologna (225 km.).
By bus
Trento is well connected to all towns in the province by an efficient bus service, making it easy to reach any town in Trentino; timetables are available on the Trentino Trasporti page. Furthermore, there is a direct multi-week connection between Trento and some European cities (Prague, Vienna, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Ceske Budejovice), while, in some periods of the year, the same service is carried out towards some Italian cities. Finally, there is the Flixbus service which can be consulted on the page dedicated webpage.
PHYSICAL ACCESSIBILITY
Visiting Buonconsiglio Castle in Trento and its related sites Thun Castle, Beseno Castle, Caldes Castle and Stenico Castle may pose challenges for anyone with mobility difficulties.
BUONCONSIGLIO
Buonconsiglio Castle has stairs and other physical barriers and there are no elevators.
The garden, library and cafeteria can be accessed by a convenient ramp at the Porta San Martino even in a wheelchair.
You can admire the frescoes in the Clesian Refectory via the elevator inside the cafeteria.
In any case, it is recommended you contact the Museum (tel. 39 0461 492811 education@buonconsiglio.it) for more precise information regarding access arrangements.
OPENING TIMES
TIMETABLE: Buonconsiglio Castle is CLOSED on all non-holiday Mondays, December 25.
EXTRAORDINARY OPENINGS:January 1, 2025 and 2026 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday, January 13, 2025, evening opening, Monday, April 21, Monday, June 2, and December 8, 2025, and every Monday in August 2025.
For the months of January, February, March, November, and December, additional opening on the third Friday of each month from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M.
For the months of April, May, June, July, September, October, additional opening every third Friday of each month from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M.
- PHOTOGRAPHS and video recordings for editorial, advertising and commercial use are only permitted with prior authorisation;
- DOG-FRIENDLY: all dogs may enter the museum gardens provided they are kept on a leash. Only small-sized dogs are allowed to enter if always carried in arms or in a carrier.

On closing days (except Mondays), it is possible to visit Beseno Castle, Stenico Castle, and Thun Castle upon advance payment via bank transfer. Please note that, for organisational reasons, a written request must be sent to booking@buonconsiglio.it or by calling 0461-492811 (Monday > Friday, 9 A.M. > 1 P.M.) at least 48 hours in advance.

Admission to Torre Aquila is by timed ticket (every 45 minutes), accompanied by museum staff. To ensure safety, access is limited to around 20 people at a time. You can book your place and purchase your ticket online HERE or, for groups or schools, reserve your tickets by calling 0461 492811.

- if access to Torre Aquila is also required during the visit, places must be booked by calling the museum’s Educational Service;
- the guided tour service is provided only upon verification of availability by contacting the museum’s Educational Service.
